The unique design of the Case Holder supports the case body, much like a chamber of a firearm. The Case Holders are precisely manufactured for consistent, repeatable results.
Since cartridge cases are held in the Case Holder by the body taper, and not the case head, it is the diameter of the case and the case length that determine the correct case holder size. L.E Wilson offers two possible case holders, depending on the calibre.
NEW CASE: for new cases and for full-length sized cases.
STANDARD FIRED CASE: for fired, unsized cases and for neck sized cases.
Some over-sized chambers may require a STANDARD FIRED case holder because, even after full-length sizing, the case may not fit in the NEW CASE holder.
If L.E Wilson do not make a NEW CASE holder for your caliber then all you need is a STANDARD FIRED case holder. For example: they only make one holder for the .223 Remington that works for all 1) new, 2) fired, 3) neck-sized and 4) full-length resized cartridge cases.
